Celebrating the newly resurfaced green.

Mingara Recreation Club and Mingara Bowling Club proudly opened their newly resurfaced Mingara Bowling Green, Wednesday 11 March 2020 with an official opening, morning tea and a few ends of bowls.

The Mingara Bowling Club

The Mingara Bowling Club community is a family, providing so much more than just a game of bowls, it provides friendship, connection, and a family of people who look out for each other.
The lifeblood of our clubs are its members, and without their vision and foresight in those very early days we would not share these wonderful facilities today, the previous contributions of Bernie Higgins and the establishment of a bowling green at the Adelaide Street site has continued to grow into the exceptional facilities we now enjoy and share at Mingara.

Neighbours and great mates

The Mingara Club history is a story of neighbours reaching out in mateship and support to create a place for local families to gather together to socialise, from these beginnings the Club has continued to focus on making a significant contribution to the quality of community life. All these years later, the Club and its facilities provide a place for people to come together as part of a community for so many different activities and sports.

The Higgins-Hadley Green

Mingara representatives, Chairman Phil Walker, Board Member Russell Johnston, CEO Paul Barnett, General Manager Daniel Pinkstone, Sports and Community Manager Sarah Ferman and Mingara staff were in attendance, along with the Mingara Bowling Club to welcome the resurfaced bowling green and announce the new name.
Importantly, Shirley Hadley, Mingara’s number 1 member and member of the Mingara Bowling Club was honoured to open the resurfaced green and to launch the newly names Higgins-Hadley Green. Without these two individuals, the Club and Bowling Club would not have existed.

Big thanks

Chris Warwick from the Green Options landscaping team undertook the resurfacing project with great passion. Chris spent hours rolling the green to perfection and hand-painted all the new numbers for the rinks.
