Mingara Leisure Group provides $25,000 to flood relief for Northern NSW
The devastation of the floods in Northern NSW continues to sadden us all. We have all seen the images on television, on social media and many of us touched by stories passed on from friends and family. The loss of property, income and life is difficult to comprehend. In true Australian spirit, times like this see neighbours come together and communities strengthen to help each other. Brave acts and simple kindness from caring souls take centre stage and in these challenging times, show us the true meaning of humanity. Sadly, it’s a long road ahead.
Local clubs in these communities in Northern NSW are unable to fulfil their purpose of providing safety, comfort, and refuge for many during these times. They too, have suffered devastating loss and feel distressed because they are unable to offer practical support to their members and broader community when they really need it. For decades, communities have looked to their local club for exactly this. It’s what we do.
On behalf of clubs in the Northern NSW region, ClubsNSW have called upon our industry to help. Clubs within Mingara Leisure Group, Mingara Recreation Club (Central Coast), The Westport Club (Port Macquarie), Lantern Club (Sydney), Springwood Sports Club (Blue Mountains) and The Greens – The Entrance (Central Coast) are donating $25,000 to Disaster Relief Australia to aid the flood disaster relief efforts in Northern NSW.
Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) deploy teams to help in times of natural disasters. DRA unites the skills of Australian Defence Force Veterans, emergency responders and civilians to rapidly deploy disaster relief. The role they play is not only important to assisting communities in times of crisis, but also to give purpose to Veterans and the valuable skillset they hold. We are proud to support the incredible work they do on the ground helping communities practically in times of desperate need.
We are proud to act on behalf of the clubs in the Northern NSW to offer financial assistance to such a vital community service at a time of immediate need.
